My work is generally stressful and very busy, and I would not have it any other way!! I just love the excitement of the multi-tasking that I do daily. My day just zips by. Once I get home I need time to unwind and that is when I turn to my knitting.
When I was about 10 years old my grandmother taught me to knit. I learned continental style, not that I knew what that meant at the time. I actually learned about the differences of knitting styles not too long ago. I am not of the thrower's.
Something happened to me after I knit one scarf too many. I had up until this point spent a great deal of time going on yarn shopping excursions to WalMart. It was not until I was on vacation in the mountains of North Carolina. I stepped into a knitting store in Blowing Rock North Carolina. I was totally taken aback by the fabulous fibers and color choices of the yarn available there. I never realized what I was missing, needless to say I was hooked! I knit three projects that first summer, over about 6 weeks. I knit my first zen ribbon shawl, then it was onto a triangle shawl knit with eyelash and egyptian cotton. Wow!! That third project is lost in my memory! What a relaxing summer.
Since then I knit for relaxation and the joy of seeing my project evolve. I am currently finishing up a shrug for my daughter.
How did you get hooked into knitting?
